Building on Faith Week

Join hearts and hands across the country for Building on Faith Week!

From September 19 through September 23, Habitat Buffalo will invite faith-based organizations to participate in community improvement projects.

This special week isn’t just about building homes… It’s about strengthening communities through our unique partnership between Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity. Be part of an amazing Thrivent Member Network event, and help make a real impact on our community!

No construction skills? No problem! There are many ways to get involved. Both construction and non-construction activities are planned during the week.

To join hearts and hands with Thrivent Member Network and other like-hearted volunteers for Building on Faith Week, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Angela Watson.

ReStore Find & Flip

On Friday, October 13 we will host our 3rd Annual ReStore D.I.Y. event (no, we’re not superstitious!). Join us for the ReStore Find & Flip – think HGTV’s Flea Market Flip with a philanthropic twist! Local designers, crafters, and D.I.Y. enthusiasts have repurposed furniture and home accessories found in our ReStore!

This year’s design categories include:
– Shabby Chic
– A Touch of Metal
– Stylish Storage
– Kickin’ It
– One-of-a-Kind

Join us in on October 13th, when these beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations will be auctioned off to benefit Habitat Buffalo. This festive event will include music, food trucks, a basket raffle, and silent auction. Tickets include admission to the event and two drinks. Additional refreshments may be purchased from food trucks.

Valu Home Centers raised $108,300 to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Valu Home Centers kicked off the summer with a five-week-long raffle to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Shoppers purchased raffle tickets for a chance to win a brand new 2017 Ford Focus. In total, customers donated $108,300, which will benefit the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in their community. More than $40,000 will stay in Buffalo, and will be used towards the construction of homes.

In celebration of our 25-year partnership, Habitat Buffalo will dedicate our 300th house in honor of Valu Home Centers later this year.

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for regular updates!

How Habitat Homes Build Bright Futures

Clemson quarterback and soon-to-be NFL first round draft pick, Deshaun Watson’s upbringing was significantly shaped by his home life.  Watson, along with his mother Deann and three siblings, lived in a small, cramped apartment in Gainesville, Ga.  Until one day, Deshaun brought home a Habitat for Humanity application that gave steps to home ownership, which Deann pursued. She spent over 300 hours helping build new houses before they could move into one of their own.  His life was forever changed.
