You don’t have to swing a hammer to build a house! 

There are countless ways to support Habitat Buffalo.

 

Administrative
Commitment: anytime Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Assist Habitat’s office staff with various project and clerical work. Tasks may include data-entry within our database, writing letters, filing, and answering phones. opening mail, filing, and data-entry. This role is flexible and can accommodate most schedules.

Construction Site Greeter
Commitment: Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Saturday, from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., flexible schedule 
Help kick-off a successful build day! Work on behalf of Habitat Buffalo to welcome volunteer groups on to our construction sites. Ensure volunteers are signed up and signed in. Construction Site Greeters set the tone for the build day and connect volunteers to Habitat Buffalo’s mission. No previous knowledge is required – volunteers in this role will receive training and literature. 

Family Liaison 
Commitment: approximately 3 days per month, flexible schedule 
Engage directly with the hardworking families in our Homebuyer Program as they work towards homeownership.  As a Family Liaison, you will be paired with a prospective Habitat Buffalo homebuyer. You will provide the support and accountability they need to successfully move through our program.This volunteer has regular contact with their partner family, and acts as a link between the family and Habitat Buffalo. Family Liaisons are in touch with their family via phone or email at least once a month, and meets with the family in person once every three months.  No experience is needed. All training is provided before a volunteer is matched with a family. 

Support Committees
Habitat Buffalo committees are comprised of volunteers, board members, and staff. Each committee has a particular focus, and provides support and guidance to the organization. Members meet monthly, and perform tasks specific to the goals of their committee.

  • Family Services: support families currently enrolled in Habitat Buffalo’s Homebuyer Program; guide families through program requirements, such as sweat equity and classes
  • Events: plan fundraisers or friend-raisers for Habitat Buffalo such as The House Beer Built, Women Build Week, Leaders Build Week, the ReStore Find & Flip.
